Sisters not Sisters

Here at SisterStory you’ve probably guessed that ‘sisters’ are incredibly important to us! Not just the biological sisters, some of us are so very lucky to have, but all, and any, of the other sorts of sisterhood relationships that fill our lives and make us who we are.

Growing up together in the same household and with shared parent figures endows us with so many things that cannot be gained in other ways. The shared experience often, but not always, means we share the same values, the same philosophy, the same outlook and sometimes the same hopes and dreams. But a true Soul Sister, a friend, a cousin or even an intergenerational friend, who fills a gap in our lives that sometimes we never knew was there, is a true treasure.

In the coming months, we want to share with you some stories of bonds between Sisters and not–Sisters.

This week marks a very special event in our own Sisters’ story.

A little part of our own SisterStory is that we are not only sisters, but are married to cousins, Storm and Greg. This means that our children have shared maternal grandparents and shared paternal great-grandparents.

In February 2000, Greg and Antonia welcomed their eldest child, Ella, to the world. Hot on her heels, and less than 24 hours later, Nicky and Storm welcomed their youngest child, and only daughter, Georgina (Gia), into their family.

Our girls have shared so many lifetime events together and have a unique bond. Both are now currently studying at Universities at opposite ends of the country, but communicate daily and share their highs and lows, their hopes and fears, their loves and their losses!

In their own words …

“Ella and I have always been called The Twins. Although just a cute family expression, we have grown up (wherever we were in the world) together. She is the sister I never had. She is the one I look up to, admire, seek advice from and strive to be like. She is driven and drives me and knows me like no other. We share secrets as well as clothes!! I love her endlessly and can’t wait to celebrate together.” Gia

“Gia, my cousin, my twin, my best friend, you mean the world to me. You’re the older sister I never had, despite my ongoing satisfaction that you are one day younger. You’ve taught me so much (including how to use a fake ID!) and I’m forever grateful for the lessons in how to down drinks you learned from your brothers!! From Cornwall to Craster. Koh Tao to the Grand Canyon, you’re my travel buddy and together we can take on every bar from the slopes to the ocean. Miss you like crazy and can’t wait to celebrate our 21st together. Here’s to many more years of making memories with a little glass of something in hand!!” Ella

This weekend they celebrate their 21st Birthdays.

Separated from their families and each other, thanks to the lockdown, we will be celebrating with them in spirit.

They both share our love of jewellery and have inherited their grandmother’s and great-grandmother’s sense of style. With two of our most popular ranges named after them, we want you to celebrate with us.

This weekend (Friday 5th February – midnight Sunday 7th February) we are offering 21% discount on the full Ella range of bracelets and the complete Gia range of necklaces, bracelets and earrings.

Use Code: BIRTHDAY21 at checkout.

Treat yourself or the special sister in your life.
